The victim reportedly left work on Jan. 25, when she was allegedly approached by 19-year-old Dulces Rios-Melendez and a Naomi Torres, 20, who were waiting for her at her vehicle. The report states that Rios-Melendez and her victim began arguing over a money issue before striking her several times.
The report states that Torres served as a “lookout” for Rios-Melendez, “encouraging the striking.” When her victim took out a cell phone in an attempt to call law enforcement, Rios-Melendez allegedly smacked the phone aside, causing damage to the phone and victim’s glasses.
Rios-Melendez and Torres were subsequently arrested. Rios-Melendez was charged with assault, interfering with an emergency call, breach of peace and conspiracy to commit assault. Torres was charged with breach of peace and conspiracy to commit assault.
Both Rios-Melendez and Torres have since been released on bail. They are due back in Norwalk Court next month to answer the charges.
